On 3-4 November, the TKN is helping to organize a workshop for journalists in Pretoria, South Africa. The Southern Africa Media Forum on Subsidies and the Food Crisis, is part of a series of regional forums organized by the GSI and IPS, and aims to equip journalists with an understanding of how government subsidies function and the impacts they have at local, national and international levels, how they might be optimized, and how journalists can help monitor the use of subsidies so as to hold governments more accountable.
